Ancillary task- Poster!

For my poster I have decided to create it in black and white following the theme throughout the film. After analysing several short film posters the typical conventions seem to be following 'less is more' and therefore I decided to follow this too. The posters seem to be very simple not giving too much away and just having an image a large title and the creators of the film on!

PROBLEM!

Unfortunatly I have had to change my poster due to my actress dying her hair. It would be difficult to change as its such a dramatic change (blonde to brown) and therefore I have decided to create a brand new poster using both my actors and link it more to the narrative but no revealing too much!

Whats got to be perfect!

When creating the narrative the main inspiration was from Charlie Chaplin. His great success in the industry really motivated me to follow typical conventions of his own whilst looking into other films such as 500 days of summer and films from Woody Allen to create our own silent short film. The choice of no dialgue is a big challenge as it leaves a lot of responsibilty into expressing the narrative through the other technical codes. The music chosen and actors expressions are essential into telling the story, if the music doesnt fit the emotions wont be expressed correctly! This put a lot of pressure on us to make sure our actors follow exactly what we tell them overexaggerating the emotions for our film to be a success. Also choosing to have the whole film in black and white apart from the key prop (balloon) shows the significance of the balloon however this has to be clear to our audience for them to understand the narrative!

Music is key!

After explaining the narrative and genre to many people I asked for feedback on what music genre would fit our film best. Giving the audience the choice of Pop, Rock, Soul, Jazz, Indie, Reggae, Country! After filling out my questionnaire the winner was... (drum role)

Update!

Over the christmas holidays we havent got as much filmed as we had intended due to the weather therefore I decided to focus on my Ancillary tasks getting as amny pictures as i could and I began to create my poster and review!

Article Review analysis

In the next week I plan to find articles of short films in shops and analyse the typical conventions adapting them to my own review. I have researched film articles on the internet and found typical tips; don't reveal the whole narrative but give away enough of the concept to persuade your audience to watch it, speak about a couple of positives
in the film e.g good acting or twist in narrative (but don't reveal what happens!!) and always express your opinion!
